Phillip Island

Phillip Island is only a 90 minute drive from Melbourne's CBD, so makes the perfect spot for a weekend away. The Summerland Beach is famous for the sunset penguin parade and the Phillip Island Circuit attracts many visitors for the motorcycle and car racing. We decided we didn't want to see either of those things. As amazing and fun as I'm sure they are, we were more interested in heading off the beaten track and finding some lesser known wonders of Phillip Island. Here is what we found.

Wine For Dudes Tour

I know what you're thinking ... is Wine For Dudes the first ever all male wine tour? I must admit, I first had that thought when I heard the name, however wine for dudes is also for dudettes. When chatting to our tour guide, he explained that 'dudes' was a general term used to describe younger people. The aim of Wine For Dudes is to capture a younger, more hip crowd.

Mornington Peninsula

The Mornington Peninsula is a region southwest of Melbourne, that's popular for it's beaches, inland winery and outdoor activities. These are what make it the perfect spot for a weekend (or more) away. What drew us to the Mornington Peninsula was the allure of the natural hot springs and since we were already going to be in the area, why not make a weekend of it!

Xcape Room

We first came across escape rooms after seeing the concept on Ellen. After being intrigued we set out trying to find one in Melbourne. There seemed to be 8 or so scattered all around the city, most being in the CBD. Having tried a few at varying prices and skill levels, our stand out favorite was the 'Mausoleum Maddness' room at Xcape Melbourne in Brunswick.
